My Toxic Relationship with Medium

I’m broke. No money. That’s just how it is. I want to reverse that. When my partner found Medium, she gave it a try and it piqued my interest. At first, it was just a place to write and maybe earn some money. We all need money but being able to write and possibly earn something compelled me to try. I do have a few accounts, and this one is for any topic, but rests mostly on society.

At first, I did ok. Do the 100 follows per day, read other writers’ work, comment, like it, and write something afterwards. While I gained about 14 bucks over dozens of articles, it was still promising. Still, at the time, over two-thousand followers, and following nearly four times that, I wondered how people with less than 10 followers and following no one, gained hundreds to thousands of dollars. Compare and contrast is something I try to do often.

I kept writing and even got to the point of posting audio from YouTube in hopes to earn some form of income. I hoped honesty was stronger than BS. People hate being lied to, so I tell the observable truth and give the most tangible solutions possible. That fails at every turn.

I ventured more recently into being a bit click-baity, and shorter with my posts, but on YouTube, the average watch time shrank proportionately and reads dropped from maybe two to nothing with only a few views per week.

A catch-all topic based channel without restraint. I’m about shedding light through the fog using compare & contrast, mixed with reasoning, and personal views.
